Psalm 34-36

Psalm 34

I will bless Yahweh at all times:

His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

2 My soul shall make her boast in Yahweh:

The meek shall hear of it, and be glad.

3 Oh magnify Yahweh with me,

And let us exalt his name together.

4 I sought Yahweh, and he answered me.

And delivered me from all my fears.

5 They looked to him, and were radiant;

And their faces shall never be confounded.

6 This poor man cried, and Yahweh heard him.

And saved him out of all his troubles.

7 The angel of Yahweh encamps around those who fear him,

And delivers them.

8 Oh taste and see that Yahweh is good:

Blessed is the man that takes refuge in him.

9 Oh fear Yahweh, you his saints;

For there is no want to them that fear him.

10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger:

But they that seek Yahweh shall not want any good thing.

11 Come, you children, listen to me:

I will teach you the fear of Yahweh.

12 What man is he that desires life,

And loves many days, that he may see good?

13 Keep your tongue from evil,

And your lips from speaking guile.

14 Depart from evil, and do good;

Seek peace, and pursue it.

15 The eyes of Yahweh are toward the righteous,

And his ears are open to their cry.

16 The face of Yahweh is against them that do evil,

To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

17 The righteous cried, and Yahweh heard,

And delivered them out of all their troubles.

18 Yahweh is near to them that are of a broken heart,

And saves such as are of a contrite spirit.

19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous;

But Yahweh delivers him out of them all.

20 He keeps all his bones:

Not one of them is broken.

21 Evil shall kill the wicked;

And they that hate the righteous shall be condemned.

22 Yahweh redeems the soul of his servants;

And none of them that take refuge in him shall be condemned.

A Psalm of David.

Psalm 35

Contend, O Yahweh, with them that contend with me:

Fight against them that fight against me.

2 Take hold of shield and buckler,

And stand up for my help.

3 Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that pursue me:

Say to my soul, I am your salvation.

4 Let them be put to shame and brought to dishonor that seek after my soul:

Let them be turned back and confounded that devise my hurt.

5 Let them be as chaff before the wind,

And the angel of Yahweh driving them on.

6 Let their way be dark and slippery,

And the angel of Yahweh pursuing them.

7 For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit;

Without cause have they dug a pit for my soul.

8 Let destruction come upon him unawares;

And let his net that he has hid catch himself:

With destruction let him fall in it.

9 And my soul shall be joyful in Yahweh:

It shall rejoice in his salvation.

10 All my bones shall say, Yahweh, who is like you,

Who delivers the poor from him that is too strong for him,

Yes, the poor and the needy from him that robs him?

11 Unrighteous witnesses rise up;

They ask me of things that I know not.

12 They reward me evil for good,

To the bereaving of my soul.

13 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth:

I afflicted my soul with fasting;

And my prayer returned into my own bosom.

14 I behaved myself as though it had been my friend or my brother:

I bowed down mourning as one that mourns his mother.

15 But in my adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together:

The attackers gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not;

They tore me, and ceased not:

16 Like the profane mockers in feasts,

They gnashed upon me with their teeth.

17 Yahweh, how long will you look on?

Rescue my soul from their destructions,

My darling from the lions.

18 I will give you thanks in the great assembly:

I will praise you among a mighty people.

19 Let not them that are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me;

Neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.

20 For they speak not peace;

But they devise deceitful words against them that are quiet in the land.

21 Yes, they opened their mouth wide against me;

They said, Aha, aha, our eye has seen it.

22 You have seen it, O Yahweh; keep not silence:

O Yahweh, be not far from me.

23 Stir up yourself, and awake to the justice due to me,

Even unto my cause, my Elohim and my Sovereign.

24 Judge me, O Yahweh my Elohim, according to your righteousness;

And let them not rejoice over me.

25 Let them not say in their heart,

Aha, so would we have it:

Let them not say,

We have swallowed him up.

26 Let them be put to shame and confounded together that rejoice at my hurt:

Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor that magnify themselves against me.

27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favor my righteous cause:

Yes, let them say continually, Yahweh be magnified,

Who has pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.

28 And my tongue shall talk of your righteousness

And of your praise all the day long.

For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David the servant of Yahweh

Psalm 36

The transgression of the wicked says within my heart,

There is no fear of Elohim before his eyes.

2 For he flatters himself in his own eyes,

That his iniquity will not be found out and be hated.

3 The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit:

He has ceased to be wise and to do good.

4 He devises iniquity upon his bed;

He sets himself in a way that is not good;

He hates not evil.

5 Your lovingkindness, O Yahweh, is in the heavens;

Your faithfulness reaches to the skies.

6 Your righteousness is like the mountains of El;

Your judgments are a great deep:

O Yahweh, you preserve man and beast.

7 How precious is your lovingkindness, O Elohim!

And the children of men take refuge under the shadow of your wings.

8 They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of your house;

And you will make them drink of the river of your pleasures.

9 For with you is the fountain of life:

In your light shall we see light.

10 Oh continue your lovingkindness to them that know you.

And your righteousness to the upright in heart.

11 Let not the foot of pride come against me,

And let not the hand of the wicked drive me away.

12 There the workers of iniquity have fallen:

They are thrust down, and shall not be able to rise.
