Deuteronomy 25
If there is a controversy between men, and they come to judgment, and the judges judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked; 2 and it shall be, if the wicked man is worthy to be beaten, that the judge shall cause him to lie down, and to be beaten before his face, according to his wickedness, by number. 3 Forty stripes he may give him, he shall not exceed; lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then your brother should seem vile to you.
4 You shall not muzzle the ox when he treads out the grain.
5 If brethren dwell together, and one of them dies, and has no son, the wife of the dead shall not be married outside to a stranger: her husband’s brother shall go in to her, and take her to him to wife, and perform the duty of a husband’s brother to her. 6 And it shall be, that the first-born that she bears shall succeed in the name of his brother that is dead, that his name is not blotted out of Israel. 7 And if the man does not want to take his brother’s wife, then his brother’s wife shall go up to the gate to the elders, and say, My husband’s brother refuses to raise up to his brother a name in Israel; he will not perform the duty of a husband’s brother to me. 8 Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak to him: and if he stands, and says, I do not want to take her; 9 then his brother’s wife shall come to him in the presence of the elders, loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face; and she shall answer and say, So shall it be done to the man that does not build up his brother’s house. 10 And his name shall be called in Israel, The house of him that has his shoe loosed.
11 When men fight together one with another, and the wife of the one draws near to deliver her husband out of the hand of him that fight with him, and puts forth her hand, and takes him by the private parts: 12 then you shall cut off her hand, your eye shall have no pity.
13 You shall not have in your bag diverse weights, a large and a small. 14 You shall not have in your house diverse measures, a large and a small. 15 A perfect and just weight shall you have; a perfect and just measure shall you have: that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your Elohim gives you. 16 For all that do such things, even all that do unrighteously, are an abomination to Yahweh your Elohim.
17 Remember what Amalek
did to you by the way as you came forth out of Egypt; 18 how he met you by the
way, and attacked the hindmost of you, all that were feeble behind you, when
you were faint and weary; and he feared not Elohim. 19 Therefore it shall be,
when Yahweh your Elohim has given you rest from all your enemies all around, in
the land which Yahweh your Elohim is giving you for an inheritance to possess
it, that you shall blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; you
shall not forget.
Deuteronomy 26
And it shall be, when you have come in to the land which Yahweh your Elohim gives you for an inheritance, and possess it, and dwell in it, 2 that you shall take of the first of all the fruit of the ground, which you shall bring in from your land that Yahweh your Elohim is giving you; and you shall put it in a basket, and shall go to the place which Yahweh your Elohim shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there. 3 And you shall come to the priest that shall be in those days, and say to him, I profess this day to Yahweh your Elohim, that I am come to the land which Yahweh swore to our fathers to give us. 4 And the priest shall take the basket out of your hand, and set it down before the altar of Yahweh your Elohim. 5 And you shall answer and say before Yahweh your Elohim, My father was a Syrian, ready to perish, and he went down into Egypt, and sojourned there, few in number; and he became there a nation, great, mighty, and populous. 6 And the Egyptians dealt ill with us, and afflicted us, and laid upon us hard bondage; 7 and we cried to Yahweh, the Elohim of our fathers, and Yahweh heard our voice, and saw our affliction, and our toll, and our oppression; 8 and Yahweh brought us forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with great terribleness, and with signs, and with wonders; 9 and he has brought us into this place, and has given us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey. 10 And now, behold, I have brought the first of the fruit of the ground, which you, O Yahweh, have given me. And you shall set it down before Yahweh your Elohim, and worship before Yahweh your Elohim: 11 and you shall rejoice in all the good which Yahweh your Elohim has given to you, and unto your house, you, and the Levite, and the sojourner that is among you.
12 When you have made an end of tithing all the tithe of your increase in the third year, which is the year of tithing, then you shall give it to the Levite, to the sojourner, to the fatherless, and to the widow, that they may eat within your gates, and be filled. 13 And you shall say before Yahweh your Elohim, I have put away the hallowed things out of my house, and also have given them to the Levite, and to the sojourner, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all your commandments which you commanded me: I have not transgressed any of your commandments, neither have I forgotten them: 14 I have not eaten any of it in my mourning, neither have I put away of it, being unclean, not given of it for the dead: I have listened to the voice of Yahweh my Elohim; I have done according to all that you have commanded me. 15 Look down from your holy habitation, from heaven, and bless your people Israel, and the ground which you have given us, as you swore to our fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.
16 This day Yahweh your
Elohim commands you to do these statutes and ordinances: you shall therefore
keep and do them with all your heart, and with all your soul. 17 You have
declared Yahweh today to be your Elohim, and that you would walk in his ways,
and keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his ordinances, and listen to
his voice: 18 and Yahweh has declared you today to be a people for his own
possession, as he has promised you, and that you should keep all his
commandments; 19 and to make you high above all nations that he has made, in
praise, and in name, and in honor; and that you may be a holy people to Yahweh
your Elohim, as he has spoken.
Deuteronomy 27
And Moses and the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep all the commandments which I am commanding you today. 2 And it shall be on the day when you shall pass over the Jordan to the land which Yahweh your Elohim gives you, that you shall set up great stones, and plaster them with plaster: 3 and you shall write on them all the words of this law, when you are passed over; that you may go in to the land which Yahweh your Elohim gives you, a land flowing with milk and honey, as Yahweh, the Elohim of your fathers, has promised you. 4 And it shall be, when you have passed over the Jordan, that you shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and you shall plaster them with plaster. 5 And there shall you build an altar to Yahweh your Elohim, an altar of stones: you shall lift up no iron tool upon them. 6 You shall build the altar of Yahweh your Elohim of unhewn stones; and you shall offer burnt-offerings on it to Yahweh your Elohim: 7 and you shall sacrifice peace-offerings, and shall eat there; and you shall rejoice before Yahweh your Elohim. 8 And you shall write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.
9 And Moses and the priests the Levites spoke to all Israel, saying, Keep silence, and listen, O Israel: This day you have become the people of Yahweh your Elohim. 10 You shall therefore obey the voice of Yahweh your Elohim, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command you this day.
11 And Moses charged the people the same day, saying, 12 These shall stand on mount Gerizim to bless the people, when you have passed over the Jordan: Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin. 13 And these shall stand on mount Ebal for the curse: Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali. 14 And the Levites shall answer, and say to all the men of Israel with a loud voice,
15 Cursed is the man that makes a carved or molten image, an abomination unto Yahweh, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and sets it up in secret. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen.
16 Cursed is he that sets light by his father or his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.
17 Cursed is he that removes his neighbor’s landmark. And all the people shall say, Amen.
18 Cursed is he that makes the blind to wander out of the way. And all the people shall say, Amen.
19 Cursed is he that wrests the justice due to the sojourner, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen.
20 Cursed is he that lies with his father’s wife, because he has uncovered his father’s skirt. And all the people shall say, Amen.
21 Cursed is he that lies with any manner of beast. And all the people shall say, Amen.
22 Cursed is he that lies with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.
23 Cursed is he that lies with his mother-in-law. And all the people shall say, Amen.
24 Cursed is he that kills his neighbor in secret. And all the people shall say, Amen.
25 Cursed is he that takes a bribe to kill an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen.
26 Cursed is he that confirms not the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.
