Deuteronomy 13

If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and he gives you a sign or a wonder, 2 and the sign or the wonder comes to pass, of which he spoke to you, saying, Let us go after other elohim, which you have not known, and let us serve them; 3 you shall not listen to the words of that prophet, or to that dreamer of dreams: for Yahweh your Elohim proves you, to know whether you love Yahweh your Elohim with all your heart and with all your soul. 4 You shall walk after Yahweh your Elohim, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and you shall serve him, and hold fast to him. 5 And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death, because he has spoken rebellion against Yahweh your Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to draw you aside out of the way which Yahweh your Elohim commanded you to walk in. So shall you put away the evil from among you.

6 If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son, or your daughter, or the wife of your bosom, or your friend, that is as your own soul, entices you secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other elohim, which you have not known, you, nor your fathers; 7 of the elohim of the peoples that are around you, near to you, or far off from you, from the one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth; 8 you shall not consent to him, nor listen to him; neither shall your eye pity him, neither shall you spare, neither shall you conceal him: 9 but you shall surely kill him; your hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. 10 And you shall stone him to death with stones, because he has sought to draw you away from Yahweh your Elohim, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 11 And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this among you.

12 If you shall hear concerning one of your cities, which Yahweh your Elohim gives you to dwell there, saying, 13 Certain base fellows have gone out from among you, and have drawn away the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other elohim, which you have not known; 14 then you shall inquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold, if it is true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought among you, 15 you shall surely kill the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is in it and the cattle of it, with the edge of the sword. 16 And you shall gather all the spoil of it into the middle of the street of it, and shall burn with fire the city, and all the spoil of it completely, to Yahweh your Elohim: and it shall be a heap forever; it shall not be built again. 17 And there shall cleave nothing of the cursed thing to your hand; that Yahweh may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and show you mercy, and have compassion on you, and multiply you, as he has sworn to your fathers; 18 when you shall listen to the voice of Yahweh your Elohim, to keep all his commandments which I command you this day, to do that which is right in the eyes of Yahweh your Elohim.

Deuteronomy 14

You are the children of Yahweh your Elohim: you shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for the dead. 2 For you are a holy people to Yahweh your Elohim, and Yahweh has chosen you to be a people for his own possession, above all peoples that are on the face of the earth.

3 You shall not eat any abominable thing. 4 These are the beasts which you may eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat, 5 the hart, and the gazelle, and the roebuck, and the wild goat, and the pygarg, and the antelope, and the chamois. 6 And every beast that has a split hoof divided in two, and chews the cud, among the beasts, that you may eat. 7 Nevertheless these you shall not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that have a split hoof completely divided: the camel, and the hare, and the coney; because they chew the cud but do not have a split hoof, they are unclean to you. 8 And the swine, because he has a split hoof, but does not chew the cud, he is unclean to you: of their flesh you shall not eat, and their carcasses you shall not touch.

9 These you may eat of all that are in the waters: whatever has fins and scales you may eat; 10 and whatever does not have fins and scales you shall not eat; it is unclean to you.

11 Of all clean birds you may eat. 12 But these are they of which you shall not eat: the eagle, and the gier-eagle, and the black vulture, 13 and the glede, and the falcon, and the kite after its kind, 14 and every raven after its kind, 15 and the ostrich, and the night-hawk, and the seamew, and the hawk after its kind, 16 the little owl, and the great owl, and the horned owl, 17 and the pelican, and the vulture, and the cormorant, 18 and the stork, and the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat. 19 And all winged creeping things are unclean to you: they shall not be eaten. 20 Of all clean birds you may eat.

21 You shall not eat of anythingthat dies of itself: you may give it to the sojourner that is within your gates, that he may eat it; or you may sell it to a foreigner: for you are a holy people to Yahweh your Elohim. You shall not boil a kid in its mother’s milk.

22 You shall surely tithe all the increase of your seed, that which comes forth from the field year by year. 23 And you shall eat before Yahweh your Elohim, in the place which he shall choose, to cause his name to dwell there, the tithe of your grain, of your new wine, and of your oil, and the firstlings of your herd and of your flock; that you may learn to fear Yahweh your Elohim always. 24 And if the way is too long for you, so that you are not able to carry it, because the place is too far from you, which Yahweh your Elohim shall choose, to set his name there, when Yahweh your Elohim shall bless you; 25 then shall you turn it into money, and bind up the money in your hand, and shall go to the place which Yahweh your Elohim shall choose: 26 and you shall use the money for whatever your soul desires, for oxen, for sheep, for wine, for strong drink, or for whatever your soul asks of you; and you shall eat there before Yahweh your Elohim, and you shall rejoice, you and your household. 27 And the Levite that is within your gates, you shall not forsake him; for he has no portion nor inheritance with you.

28 At the end of every three years you shall bring forth all the tithe of your increase in the same year, and shall lay it up within your gates: 29 and the Levite, because he has no portion nor inheritance with you, and the sojourner, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within your gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that Yahweh your Elohim may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.

Deuteronomy 15

At the end of every seven years you shall make a release. 2 And this is the manner of the release: every creditor shall release that which he has lent to his neighbor; he shall not exact it of his neighbor and his brother; because Yahweh’s release has been proclaimed. 3 Of a foreigner you may exact it: but whatever of yours is with your brother your hand shall release. 4 However there shall be no poor with you; (for Yahweh will surely bless you in the land which Yahweh your Elohim gives you for an inheritance to possess it;) 5 if only you diligently listen to the voice of Yahweh your Elohim, to observe to do all this commandment which I command you this day. 6 For Yahweh your Elohim will bless you, as he promised you: and you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow; and you shall rule over many nations, but they shall not rule over you.

7 If there be with you a poor man, one of your brethren, within any of your gates in your land which Yahweh your Elohim gives you, you shall not harden your heart, or shut your hand from your poor brother; 8 but you shall surely open your hand to him, and shall surely lend him enough for his need in that which he wants. 9 Beware that there is not a base thought in your heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and your eye is evil against your poor brother, and you give him nothing; and he cries to Yahweh against you, and it is sin to you. 10 You shall surely give him, and your heart shall not be grieved when you give to him; because for this thing Yahweh your Elohim will bless you in all your work, and in all that you put your hand to. 11 For the poor will never cease out of the land: therefore I command you, saying, You shall surely open your hand to your brother, to your needy, and to your poor, in your land.

12 If your brother, a Hebrew man, or a Hebrew woman, is sold to you, and serves you six years; then in the seventh year you shall let him go free from you. 13 And when you let him go free from you, you shall not let him go empty: 14 you shall furnish him liberally out of your flock, out of your threshing-floor, and out of your winepress, as Yahweh your Elohim has blessed you shall give to him. 15 And you shall remember that you were a bondman in the land of Egypt, and Yahweh your Elohim redeemed you: therefore I command you this thing today. 16 And it shall be, if he says to you, I will not go out from you; because he loves you and your house, because he is well with you; 17 then you shall take an awl, and thrust it through his ear to the door, and he shall be your servant forever. And also to your maidservant you shall do likewise. 18 It shall not seem hard to you, when you let him go free from you; for to the double of the hire of a hireling has he served you six years: and Yahweh your Elohim will bless you in all that you do.

19 All the firstling males that are born of your herd and of your flock you shall sanctify to Yahweh your Elohim: you shall do no work with the firstling of your herd, nor shear the firstling of your flock. 20 You shall eat it before Yahweh your Elohim year by year in the place which Yahweh shall choose, you and your household. 21 And if it has any blemish, as if it is lame or blind, any ill blemish whatever, you shall not sacrifice it to Yahweh your Elohim. 22 You shall eat it within your gates: the unclean and the clean shall eat it alike, as the gazelle, and as the hart. 23 Only you shall not eat the blood of it; you shall pour it out on the ground as water.
