Psalm 52-54

Psalm 52

Why boast yourself in mischief, O mighty man?

The lovingkindness of El endures continually.

2 Your tongue devises very wickedness,

Like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.

3 You love evil more than good,

And lying rather than to speak righteousness.

Selah

4 You love all devouring words,

O you deceitful tongue.

5 El will likewise destroy you forever;

He will take you up, and pluck you out of your tent,

And root you out of the land of the living.

Selah

6 The righteous also shall see it, and fear,

And shall laugh at him, saying,

7 Lo, this is the man that made not Elohim his strength,

But trusted in the abundance of his riches,

And strengthened himself in his wickedness.

8 But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in the house of Elohim:

I trust in the lovingkindness of Elohim for ever and ever.

9 I will give you thanks forever, because you have done it;

And I will hope in your name, for it is good, in the presence of your saints.

Psalm 53

The fool has said in his heart,

There is no Elohim.

Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity;

There is none that does good.

2 Elohim looked down from heaven upon the children of men,

To see if there were any that did understand,

That did seek after Elohim.

3 Every one of them has gone back; they have together become filthy;

there is none that does good, no, not one.

4 Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge,

Who eat up my people as they eat bread,

And call not upon Elohim?

5 There were they in great fear, where no fear was;

For Elohim has scattered the bones of him who encamped against you:

You have put them to shame, because Elohim has rejected them.

6 Oh that the salvation of Israel had come out of Zion!

When Elohim brings back the captivity of his people,

Then shall Jacob rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

Does not David hide himself with us?

Psalm 54

Save me, O Elohim, by your name,

And judge me in your might.

2 Hear my prayer, O Elohim;

Give ear to the words of my mouth.

3 For strangers have risen up against me,

And violent men have sought after my soul:

They have not set Elohim before them.

Selah

4 Behold, Elohim is my helper:

Yahweh is of them that uphold my soul.

5 He will requite the evil to my enemies:

Destroy them in your truth.

6 With a freewill-offering will I sacrifice to you:

I will give thanks to your name, O Yahweh, for it is good.

7 For he has delivered me out of all trouble;

And my eye has seen my desire upon my enemies.
